THE 2023 Provincial Grand Primo
Bro. Martyn Sharp ROH
THE 2023 PGP's CHARITY APPEAL
In considering a charity to nominate for support in the Peterborough Province in 2023, I have taken a number of things into account. I have dismissed my first choice because on taking a closer look I found that in 2020 it wasted 40% of its charitable income on litigation in the courts and tribunals (note here for Grand Lodge perhaps).
I looked at several ‘local’ charities but they were all too local, and I am conscious that this should be directed at something that is pertinent to the whole Province.
I have settled on Sue Ryder Care for several reasons :
I have asked one of the team at Sue Ryder in Peterborough is she would be able to speak to us about the charity, and I hope to set this up some time in the spring.
Thank you for making me your PGP in 2023 – I shall do all I can to meet your expectations and make the year a good one for the Province. I thank also the Bro’s and Minor Lodges who have already pledged their support for my chosen charity and hope that the Peterborough Province will support me in the choice of Sue Ryder Care as the PGP’s charity for 2023.

Peterborough & District Provincial Grand Primo 2023
In 2012, as in previous years, the Eastgate Lodge supported the Outside Charity Appeal of the Provincial Grand Primo, in the process contributing to a total amount raised of £7600. The Brothers then voted to select & support a Lodge Charity Appeal, this has continued except for 2018 when again we supported the PGP's Appeal. On both occasions the PGP was representing Our Lodge and also the Eastgate was the main contributor to the final totals, £7684.68 being raised in 2018. We now look forward to supporting Brother Martyn and wish him a successful year in Office.
In the last 11 years the Brothers of the Eastgate have made donations to several worthwhile Charities to the tune of £45,000 & have now started collecting for the 2023 Appeal.
