Bro. Wally Dawson, ROH, PPGP.

The Eastgate Lodge are sad to announce the passing of Brother Wally Dawson, the Lodge offers sincere condolences to his Family.

The Funeral Service took place at 1:00pm on Thursday the 28th of June at the Peterborough Crematorium. After the main service, Bro. Bob Buff, ROH, PPGP, the PGL Funeral Marshal, conducted a Buff Service with a very good turn-out of Brothers.

Bro’ Walter (Wally) Dawson ROH, PPGP

It is with regret that I forward this obituary for Bro’ Wally Dawson ROH.

Bro’ Wally joined the Order in the Kirtonia Lodge in June 1967, affiliating to the Welland Lodge in 1989. He was Provincial Grand Primo of the Peterborough Province in 1979 and during the 70s and 80s was a stalwart of PGL and his adopted Minor Lodge.

Born and growing up in the black fen, Bro’ Wally moved as a young man with his family to Peterborough, to find work and make a future. He was at various times a driver, an engineer with a large manufacturing firm and a self-employed motor mechanic. Bro’ Wally was a family man; he was sadly widowed some years ago but leaves a daughter and two sons – both of whom are Bro’s of the Order. Unfortunately, Bro’ Wally was confined to his care home for the last part of his life missing the amalgamation of his Welland Lodge with the Eastgate two years ago.

The Peterborough & District P.G. Funeral Marshall conducted a Buffalo Ceremony at Bro’ Wally’s funeral to the pleasure of everyone in attendance. I knew Bro’ Wally for many years and I believe that he would have been happy with the turn-out and the many contributions made by family and friends.
