PGP's Appeal Cheque Presentation

Bro. Martyn presented a cheque for £7500 to

Cheyenne Smith for  Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall,

Cheyenne said "We are really grateful for this splendid

donation to Sue Ryder Care, and thank the Buffs for

all the work they did on our behalf last year."

2023 CHRISTMAS DINNER

The rearranged Dinner took place on the

17th of January at the Admiral Wells

in Holme. Another good turn out for a very

convivial night in the company of the Lodge

Brothers, Partners, Widows and Guests.

The Raffle, was conducted by Bro. Pete

supported by Bro. Tony, and was again a

huge success and we were very pleased

with the amount of great prizes donated.

The Annual Cash draw also took place

with wins for Tony (x3), David, Pete,

Steve, Martyn, Bob, and Roy.

Thanks to all who attended.

Two presentations also took place.

Bro. Pete Pierce surprised Bro. Martyn

Sharp with a Secretary Jewel on behalf

of the Lodge for the outstanding work he

carries out for the Eastgate Lodge.

In a twist the Lodge had also taken the

decision to present Bro. Pete Pierce with

a Man of Worth Jewel for the 30 Years +

of Fund Raising on behalf of many Charities.

This has included supporting three Brothers

of Lodge who've been PGP's. Bro. Martyn

Sharp, IPPGP, conducted the presentation.

BRO. NORRIE TAWSE ROH

50 YEAR PRESENTATION

On 20th of October, Bro’ Tony Carpenter & I drove over to North Wales to attend the Edward Vll Lodge in Llandudno. Several years ago, Bro’ Norrie Tawse ROH, honorary member of  the Welland Lodge which subsequently amalgamated with the Eastgate Lodge moved to Colwyn Bay with his partner Carol. The Eastgate Lodge secured Bro’ Norrie’s 50 year emblem early in 2022, but we’ve had no opportunity to

present it to him until now.

The Edward Vll made Tony & me very welcome. I was placed

 in the Royal Chair and made the presentation of the emblem along with a jewel to mark the occasion. 50 years (+ 1 of

course) is a milestone in itself, but Norrie like so many

Brothers who joined the Order whilst in the Services, has as

Bro’ Tony pointed out when sponsoring him - been about a bit.

Norrie joined the Order in the Por Favor Lodge in Gibraltar in 1971, has visited Lodges throughout the world, and ended

up in the Peterborough area at the end of his travels.

He has been PGP in the Rutland Province and Roll of Honour Assembly President in the Peterborough Province.

Since moving to Colwyn Bayt, Norrie has been PGP (again) in North Wales during the COVID period, and is City Secretary

(again) now for the Edward Vll. Bro’ Norrie has filled his firsthalf century with a mixture of commitment and good fellowship, and is a Brother who embodies the fundamentals

of our Order: Justice, Truth & Philanthropy.

A challenging journey over to Wales from Cambridgeshire

on a Friday afternoon, but well worth the effort. It was a

good Lodge meeting, with new friends met and one old one given the recognition so well deserved.

Held at Float Fish Farm on the

27th of August on Phoenix Pool.

This years event was won by Eastgate 'B',

congratulations to Mick and Daryl Reeve,

Steve Belham and Steve Page.

A superb effort with the team completing

a clean sweep of all the major trophies.

MAYWOOD CUP 2023

This years Lodge Fishing Competition took place

on Sunday 18th June at Float Fish Farm on Captain

Tom's. The Maywood Cup was won by Steve Jones,

with the Alf Cook Shield going to Runner Up Roy Grundy.

The trophy for the best weight by a non Buff, the Frank

Marsden Memorial Trophy was won by Steve Page.

HOG ROAST 2023

Took place on the 22nd of July at the Parkway

PSL Club, the Lodge thanks everyone for

their attendance and support. The raffle raised

£282, thanks to Chris and Tina for conducting

it and an army of ticket folders who provided assistance to allow it to take place.

the Hog Roast and Shadowside who

provided the musical entertainment.

HONARARY MEMBERSHIP SASH PRESENTATION

On Thursday 29th of December 2022 Bro. Martin Sharp ROH visited Bro. Geoff Jefford ROH to present him with his Honorary Sash on behalf of the Lodge. Brother Geoff hasn't been in the best of health this year but the Brothers of the Lodge look forward to his return soon.

Held on the 14th of December we had a great meal in great company.

Pete again organised the super and we also had the cash draw.

this years winners were: Roy, Martyn, Dave - twice, Tony - twice,

and Bob - three wins of which he pledged £100 to next years PGP Appeal.

JULY 2022 HOG ROAST

Thanks to everyone for their support in attending this years event. Great to see everyone again especially those Brothers and their parties from the other Lodges and Joe Underhill who came over with the Band.

Another find Hog Roast from Malcolm who joined us from Ramsey. We had a superb Band, The Macarnos, who did two great sets with popular songs and superb harmonies, we look forward to seeing the again in the future.

We had the normal Super-Raffle put together by Pete Pierce that raised £220 and we were well looked after once again by Johnny, Maggie and the Staff of our hosts, the Parkway Club.

MAYWOOD CUP 2022

Held on the 8th of May on Two Islands at Float Fish Farm.

The Bannister Cup, Buff with heaviest weight was won by Mick Clay.

Runner-up was Roy Grundy winning the Alf Cook Shield and the top

Non-Buff Steve Belham, won the inaugural Frank Marsden Trophy.

The trophy is named in the memory of Frank, a popular local angler

who has fished in the Bannister Cup on several occasions.

2021 CHRISTMAS DINNER

This years Dinner was held at the Willow Cafe in
Central Park on the 8th of December with a good
turn out of Lodge Brothers, Partners & Guests.
Thanks to everyone for their support. 

Pete Pierce organised and ran a successful Prize Draw
that brought in £300 with lots of extra prizes donated
on the night including a magnificent Christmas Cake
provided by Angie Smith & won by Monica Whatford.

2021 MAYWOOD CUP & COOK SHIELD

With no Eastgate Lodge Fishing Competition
this year it was decided to present the Lodge Trophys
for the best and second best catches at this years
Bannister Cup Match held on October 3rd.

As a result Steve Jones was presented with the Maywood Cup

with the highest weight of 29 lb 3 ozs & Martyn Sharp received

the Cook Shield with a weight of 27 lb 14 ozs.

The Scamp Trophy to the junior under 16 & the Trophy for the Best Dressed Angler on the Bank were not contested this year

Lodge Brothers contested the Maywood Cup & the Alf Cook Shield on the 19th of August at Float Fish Farm, Farcet.
The event took place at recently opened 'Captain Tom Pool' with the Maywood Cup being won by Roy Grundy and the Runner Up Trophy, the Alf Cook Shield, won by Steve Jones.

The Hog Roast was held at the PSL Parkway Club, Lincoln Road on Saturday 30th of June 2018. Once again Malcolm did us proud with the quality of the food and we we were entertained by the fantastic Billy G & The Heartbeats.

The Eastgate Lodge 90th Anniversay Dinner took place on Saturday 3rd of February at the Cresset. We were pleased to host six Widows of Brothers Passed to the Grand Link Above, all Brothers were remembered at the Absent Bretheren Toast.

This years Dinner was held at the Newark Hotel on Saturday 10th of December. 2016 BANNISTER CUP FISHING

This years event took place at Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey. The Eastgate A Team came Third, Mick Reeve won the Trophy for the Smallest Fish, and Bob Macnamara (Fishing for the Fenman Lodge), was for the umpteenth year, the Best Dressed Man on the Bank. We witnessed some very good weights with the top two over 80 lbs. We believe this was a record breaking year with everyone catching for once.
Sorry for the lack of photos but my phone was a little moist after falling in the lake.

The Reeve Family had a superb day out at this years fishing competion, Runners Up in the Team event, Mick's Son Julian had the heaviest weight for a non Buff and Julian's Son won the Scamp Trophy as the Best Junior.

 HORSE RACING NIGHT 29th MAY 2015

The joint event, organised by ourselves and the Fenman Lodge, was held at the Farcet Village Club. There was an excellent turnout and all of the Lodges of the Peterborough & District Provinces contributed to the event. The total raised was £1130 and will be shared between the two Lodge Charity Appeals for 2015, the Thorpe Hall "Raise the Roof Fund" and ssafa.

Fourth Degree Raising

Brother Steve Jones was Raised to the Fourth Degree on Friday the 29th of August 2014 at the Farcet Village Club. The Exhaulting Officer was the ROH President, Bro. Werner Dukamp ROH, PPGP. Brother Wern conducted an excellent ceremony ably assisted by our very own Tony Carpenter in the roll of the Director of Ceremonies and the Peterborough ROH Assembly No. 135.

There was an excellent turnout to witness the ceremony and hear the commendations of the two Sponsors, Brothers Peter Pierce & Martyn Sharp.

Bro' Colin was initiated into the King George Lodge 6553 on 27th September 1972 and remains a Kangaroo after a 40 year Buffalo career. Even after suffering a massive stroke a few years ago Bro' Colin continues to play a full role in the Lodge. He has served in all the Minor Lodge offices and has always been on hand to help out when needed. When the King George amalgamated with the Eastgate Lodge Bro' Colin continued to attend regularly and is a valued Brother to us all.

At March 2013 PGL, the IPPGP, Bro. Steve Jones KOM, presented Emily Gray of the Peterborough & Fenland MIND, with a cheque for £7600 on behalf of the Brothers and Lodges of the Province. Brother Steve thanked the Brothers of the Peterborough & District Province as well as their Partners & Families for their tremendous support & told them all that the everyone should feel very proud of what they had achieved in support of the appeal.

The Dinner and Draw took place at the Newark Hotel on December 12th. The Annual Christmas Cash Prize Draw £150 first prize was won by John Smyth as was the third prize of £50, well done Johm. Henry Muir won the £100 second prize. Pete Pierce organised a magnificent Raffle with many fine prizes. For the sale of tickets and making the draw Pete was assisted by Tony Carpenter. Pete then rounded off the night with a Quiz based on the true meaning of Christmas, money!

PGP's Charity Appeal

Took place at the Farcet Village Club on Friday 17th August. Thanks for all your support, the event raised £728 for MIND.

Bannister Cup Fishing Competition 2012

This years event was held Sunday 19th of August at Stretton Lakes. Eastgate Team 1 recorded in the third highest weight. At September PGL Bro. Bill Forest ROH, past PGP, presented the PGP with a cheque for £250 from the fishing competition organisers, the Welland Lodge.

Bro. Ian Gunn ROH - Honorary Membership

Brother Ian was presented with his Honorary Membership on Wednesday the 25th of January 2012 at the Newark Hotel in an Open Ceremony. The Presentation was made by the PGP, Bro. Steve Jones KOM assisted by the Grand Waiter of 2007, Bro. Steven Roofe ROH and Bro. Rick Chesmond ROH, Grand Waiter for 2009. Provincial Grand Chamberlain Bro. Bob Buff ROH superbly directed the Ceremony and Brother Ian's Sponsors Brothers, Pete Pierce ROH & Martyn Sharp ROH, presented censored commendations on his behalf. Bro. Steven then presented a Mounted Inscribed Clock to Bro. Ian as well as a Bound Copy of the Honorary Membership Ceremony.

Bingo Night with Fish Supper

The Fenman Lodge held a Bingo Night at the Farcet Village

Club on Friday December 9th 2011.

A total of £294.50 was raised for the PGP's Outside Charity.

Bannister Cup Fishing Match 2011

Took place on Sunday 14th of August at Yoke Farm, Upper Benefield, the Eastgate fished two teams who came 3rd and 4th. Steve Belham fishing for the 'A' team won the Grand Waiters Cup for the Smallest Fish & the 'A' Team won the Goodwin Cup for Third place.

Bro. Henry Muir ROH

Brother Henry Celebrated 52 years in the Order on Wednesday 6th April 2011. He was presented with a special "Cookie" to mark the event.

Initiation

Mr Darran Nunn was initiated into the Order on the 23rd of February 2011. The Ceremony was conducted by the WP Bro. Steve Jones KOM, ably assisted by the City Chamberlain, Bro. Ian Gunn ROH and the Alderman of Benevolence, Bro. Pete Beeby KOM. The PGP, Bro. Jim Hartigan ROH the Officers of PGL and visitors from the Valiant, Fenman, Welland and Locomotive, made it a pleasant and successful evening.

Bro. Colin Cammidge KOM was Raised to the Third Degree on Wednesday the 19th May 2010. The Installing Officer was Bro. R. Crowe KOM, supported by the Director of Ceremonies Bro. Chaz Fenner KOM and the Officers of the Peterborough & District Knights Chapter 220.

PGP CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION

At the 2009 November 2009 PGL Brother Henry Muir ROH was presented with his Past Provincial Grand Primo's Certificate by the Provincial Grand Primo, Bro. Pete Dudley CP.

Bro. Henry was the Provincial Grand Primo of the Maesteg & District Province in 1969.
